Replacing LED Pars
Main Post:
I’m looking to replace about 20 Elation Fuze Pars that are approaching a 50% failure rate, after less than 3 years of use.
They are primarily used as top lights above the stage.
I’d like something with motorized zoom and since everything else in inventory is ETC I was looking at their line. But I don’t seem to find this as an option. The Desire 22 has a zoom feature but it doesn’t show up in the dmx profile so I assume it doesn’t. Its very likely I’m not looking in the right places though... :)
Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m not stuck on ETC and am open to suggestions.
Thanks

For social all-you-can-eat a la carte try Super Bowl in JLT (44 AED ayce) and the breakfast deal at Circle Cafe (I think 60 AED ayce).
For affordable Moroccan food there's an area in Hor-al-Anz with 4 Moroccan restaurants all in the same block (search on Google Maps for "Al Boughaz Al Maghribi")
For seafood try Dampa, Souq al Bahar in Kite Beach, Deira Waterfront Market eateries.
In Tecom there are a couple of decent Pakistani restaurants with good grills: Copper Kettle and Daal Chawal.
For Ramen, it's Daikan in JLT.
Italian Pizza, it's Pulcinella in Sports City.
Chinese Hot Pot, it's Little Mongolian Lamb or a similar name (there's one in Marina).
Chinese cheap eateries, just go to International City and try any of them.
Egyptian food, the various restaurants in Al Barsha: Al Amoor, Koshari Abu Tarek.
What caused your pars defect?
Main Post:
I can not think of any large event that happened to me where this could have happened. Mine is chronic, does that mean I was born with it? I was in a very minor car accident when I was 20 weeks pregnant. No injury or pain though. What caused yours?

I believe there’s three types . Stress, genetic and trauma. I was working like if I had a kid 17-19 . In a supermarket . As a late bloomer my body simply wasn’t ready for that
Bilateral pars defect - advice
Main Post:
Without going into the whole story; my 15 year old son has been dealing with bilateral pars fractures/defects on his L5 since April 2023. He plays club lacrosse year round, HS lacrosse and football. So he’s very active. Last year they shut him down for 12 weeks during summer club lacrosse. He came back for football season and was fine. Got back into lacrosse season in the Spring of 2024 and started having pain again. Went back for another MRI and showed swelling and bleeding again but no new breaks or anything. Doctor said 8 weeks down (wasnt as bad as first time) and he went to a lacrosse game yesterday and took himself because of pain. He hasn’t had pain for weeks. He is pretty depressed about it and here we go back into football season soon. Sports are his life. He loves it. It’s all he knows. I’m going to be calling the doctor tomorrow but realistically what are our options since this keeps happening. He/We would seriously consider surgery to place a screw if that’s what’s needed at this point. What are our other options? We are just frustrated and upset about it all.

I personally would not do contact sports. My doctors have told me to be very concerned about proper form, core stabilization, and avoiding high impact things as a primary form of exercise. I would suggest asking your doctor or doctors, explicitly, about it. It is not fun and he has my sympathy.
Spondylolisthesis with pars defect
Main Post:
I have an L5 S1, the doctors don’t wanna do surgery because they say that once they do surgery there in five years have to do the one above it and I’m only 43 years old. I take hydrocodone constantly throughout the day and I have for 20 years nowbut the pain that bothers me most is the hamstring pain. It wakes me from my sleep it just feels like they’re very tight. I cannot walk or sit for long periods of time due to the lower back pain and then the hamstring pain and any suggestions?

I had L5-S1 fused. My surgeon said not to worry about that as much with an L5-S1 fusion, bc the sacrum is stable and there’s more instability at a fusion higher up like L4-L5, since the segment above and below are mobile.
I’m also concerned about that though. But I have to believe that having an unstable spondy is going to cause compensation and degenerative changes around it. So I personally would get a second opinion. I’m hoping that once mine is solid, it would function normally and not wear out any differently than if I never had it fused
Pars Defect surgery risk reward
Main Post:
Hi,
Been reading a lot of reddit post. Question...
I'm 32 & a power lifter. I've accepted that I need to retire from power lifting and modify my gym routine. However, I'm trying to weigh whether or not I should do the surgery or try to push it off till 40.
How did you do your risk reward when deciding on surgery? Is it riskier to get it done young or riskier to not get it done?
I think I have stage 2 or stage 3. Consistent back pain for a few weeks now. Manageable with pain meds.

I was in my late 40s when dx’ed and told it was best to use conservative measures, especially exercise, until it got worse and I needed surgery.
BUT this was for spondy where I would need fusion. The thing about fusion is that it transfers stresses elsewhere and it is common to need to address those with later surgery. So it’s best to wait as long as you can before taking that step.
I’d get a thorough evaluation from an orthopedic surgeon. Good ones generally won’t operate until you have to crawl into their office. Two or three weeks is nothing in back pain time because just the passage of time addresses so many issues like bulging discs.
A good orthopod or other physician should lay out conservative measures to preserve function and relieve pain until surgery is required.
Also. When I needed surgery, decompression was mentioned as an alternative to fusion, but I was told that a first surgery is always going to be the best shot at success because each surgery screws with your spine in some way—scar tissue, etc. So even my very conservative back doc recommended going big with fusion.
